My sincere thanks to Peter Barkwill for allowing me to photograph Moonshill quarry, and to Justin Thorner who patiently escorted me around this beautiful basalt quarry on two separate occasions. It was real treat to absorb myself into the atmosphere of a working quarry, and to have the time bring out my 5×4 camera.
The giant stacks of basalt are incredibly textural, resembling velvet, creating a somewhat extra-terrestrial atmosphere. These are probably 2 of my favourite shots.
