Dowhhead Quarry (disused) was a basalt quarry. It is situated to the west of the village of Downhead and mined between 1904 to 1925. It was serviced by a 2ft narrow gauge railway which can still be seen in the winter months when the vegetation has died down. These first pictures were taken on an exploratory visit, it was very dark, I did not have my tripod, so I played with multiple exposures.
